Quite how Mohamed Salah has managed to turn his time in Italy into an absolute circus is anyone's guess. The Egyptian international moved to Fiorentina in January on loan as part of the deal which saw Juan Cuadrado move to Chelsea.
Salah immediately did very well at Fiorentina, the club were thrilled with the deal and Salah was rebuilding a reputation which had been battered. Fiorentina already had an agreement to loan the player for the coming season, or so they thought, and Salah himself would be set to have a settled full season of excelling for Fiorentina.
Yet things changed quite dramatically. Inter Milan got through to Salah and offered him much higher wages, which Fiorentina weren't able or prepared to match. The Milan club have since agreed a €20m fee with Chelsea, say Calciomercato, that works out to be around £14m. Personal terms are obviously sorted but that doesn't mean the transfer is yet done.
Fiorentina are furious, they believe Inter Milan tapped up the player when he was under contract to them. Fiorentina have approached Inter officially with their intention to take the situation further, saying that if all football rules were followed correctly then Inter Milan would already be relegated. This isn't going to be pretty for anyone involved and for Salah it will heap more pressure on him ahead of next season and give a bad taste to his time in Italy which should have been calm and full of relief and optimism this summer. He'll hope the few extra million are worth it.
