Transfer news RECAP: Gossip, rumours and done deals including latest on Nicolas Otamendi to Man United

Good morning all, how's is everyone doing on this fine Saturday?

Sadly, we've not got a lot of actual football to offer you today, as the Premier League season is long forgotten, Roy Hodgson's England team are all done for the season and there's no Three Lions action in either the Women's World Cup and European Under-21 Championship.

But what we can offer you is all the transfer news you can shake a stick at as the rumour mill keeps on spinning, weekend or not.

And there's plenty of news kicking around today, with Manchester United being linked with a whole heap of players, while Petr Cech appears to be inching closer to the Emirates.

So whack the kettle on, make a bacon sandwich (other fillings are available) and get yourself comfortable.

Let's start here with north London scrap for Monaco's Geoffrey Kondogbia.
Borini "feels like a lion in a cage"

Liverpool forward Fabio Borini wants to quit the club this summer, his agent has confirmed.

The Italian was widely expected to leave Anfield a year ago but opted to stay on Merseyside and fight for his future.

Just 12 appearances followed last season and Borini's agent Marco De Marchi says the time has come for him to depart.

"Fabio wants a new experience. There are teams from all over Europe interested in him," he told Corriere dello Sport.

"Top clubs in Europe are keen on him, from the Premier League to the Bundesliga and there also clubs in Italy, but many clubs in Italy have had coaching changes and that has slowed things down.

"He has no preference, he just wants a team that gives him a clear chance to prove himself.

"Right now he feels like a lion in a cage."
Cech to become Arsenal's highest-paid keeper ever

Petr Cech is set to be made the best paid keeper in Arsenal’s history with a £100,000-a-week deal.

The 32-year-old Chelsea keeper is closing in on a move across London in a £10million deal that would make him better paid than he was at Stamford Bridge.

As revealed by Mirror Sport earlier this week, PSG had been ready to offer the Czech Republic veteran an even bigger wage packet of around £150,000-a-week.

But Cech chose to stay in London where he is settled.

Swansea target Townsend

Swansea have joined the chase for Andros Townsend.

Mirror Sport exclusively revealed earlier this week that Aston Villa have targeted the 23-year-old England winger.

Villa boss Tim Sherwood, a champion of young English players, sees Townsend as a player capable of making a big contribution to his side next season.

Swansea boss Garry Monk, however, is also a big fan and has a long-standing interest.

Townsend, who has three years left on his contract, is keen to fight for his place at Spurs and prove he is capable of being a success at White Hart Lane.
 Chelsea considering Alderweireld swap

Chelsea are considering swapping Filipe Luis for Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho wanted Joao Miranda instead but the Brazilian is set to join Inter Milan.

Atletico are keen to bring Luis back to La Liga after a disappointing season at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Premier League champions are keeping Atletico waiting over their offer of a trade, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Otamendi "desperate" to join Manchester United

Nicolas Otamendi has told friends he is "desperate" to move to Manchester United, as Valencia hold out for the defender's £35million release clause.

The centre-back is currently at the Copa America with Argentina, but has told international teammates and people in his entourage that he is set on a move to Old Trafford.

Otamendi is aware that he's Louis van Gaal's second-choice target as the Dutchman looks to bring in reinforcements for central defence.

Chelsea hold talks over French youngster
Chelsea are keen on signing French Under-21 star Samuel Umtiti.

The Blues have held talks about the left-back, according to the Times, but Lyon insist the player is not for sale.

Jean-Michel Aulas, president of the French club said: "Samuel is one of the pillars of the team.

"The question is whether this is a real desire on his part or a way to drive up the bidding."

Gunners make big Carvalho bid

Arsenal have made a £28.5m bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, according to reports in the Sun.

The 23-year-old enhanced his growing reputation with a stellar display in Portugal's win over England in the U21 European Championships on Thursday night.

And the Gunners are now determined to snap up the player they have been tracking for the past two years.

However, there have been suggestions that Arsenal might have to table an offer of Carvalho's £37m release clause to land their man.
