Arsenal transfer news: Lukas Podolski and Carl Jenkinson deals, Karim Benzema chance, Petr Cech in confirmed talks

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger might be on holiday at the moment – and wearing some strange shirts while he’s at it – but some serious business is still going on behind the scenes.

Gunners CEO Ivan Gazidis reportedly told fans at Sunday’s kit unveiling that the club are only in the market for quality players, and they’ve also been busy with outgoing business too.

Here’s the biggest news coming out of the Emirates today.

The Gunners look to have got some outgoings sorted early doors.

Jenkinson is set to continue his first-team development at Sunderland under Dick Advocaat, with his previous loan club West Ham believed to have been put off by his £1.5million loan fee.

Podolski, on the other hand, looks set to leave the Emirates for good after an agreement-in-principle was reached between Arsenal and Galatasaray.

Sad times, but probably the right decision.

Jackson Martinez looks all set to join AC Milan, so Arsenal need to turn their attentions elsewhere if they want a big name striker.

Benzema has been linked with the Gunners for as long as anyone can remember, but with Rafael Benitez set to shake things up tactically and Real Madrid reportedly interested in Sergio Aguero, Wenger is keenly monitoring his compatriot’s situation.

Should he become even slightly available, you can bet Wenger will be ready with a bid.

Just imagine him and Ozil together again…

Cech to Arsenal is fast becoming one of the summer’s main transfer sagas.

But this deal is a real goer, as Arsenal’s chief executive himself has confirmed that the Gunners are trying to bring Cech to the Emirates.

It remains to be seen what Jose Mourinho might do to sabotage it, though…
