Buhari, Ezekwesili, Shekau among Time magazine 100 most influential people

President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has been identified by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Also named by the magazine were the Convener of the #BringBackOurGirl (BBOG), Oby Ezekwesili and leader of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau.

Also named among the most 100 influential people is Chimamanda Adichie, notable author, who was in the category of artists.

Time’s Africa bureau chief, Aryn Baker, applauded Buhari for becoming the first candidate to oust a sitting Nigerian president through the ballot box.

In how Shekau made it to the list, a retired US army general, Carter Ham, described Shekau as the most violent killer that Nigeria has ever seen, noting that the decision of Shekau’s sect to align with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) may attract a US response.

As regards Chimamanda and Ezekwesili, they were commended for their respective roles in the development of the country.
